The raymond duncan slip-in was designed with a tab in the middle that functions as a pull table for ease when putting them on.  This style was intended to hold the foot securely making sure to not "flop" around as Barbara would say. 

The knot sandal is unique for its design as it allows for the user to tighten the leather straps over time as they break in and maintain a good fit over time.
